Hello From Your Preschool

January was a very exciting month. The first week or so was spent getting back into our normal routine. The Children hadn't seen each other in a couple of weeks, and they seemed to have a lot of catching up to do.

Our monthly field trip was to the State Police Post. The Children were given a great tour which was led, 2 out of 3 times, by a Preschool Grandfather, Ron Whitney.  Sgt. Slocum joined us for the last tour, and the Preschoolers had the added treat of being able to meet the Post's Police dog.
        Another exciting event occurred when Ray and Mary Courtney, our Preschool's adopted Grandparents, came for a surprise visit. This time they brought a real moose antler which, the Children were able to handle. Grandma Mary also brought two little toy moose to help them visualize how the antlers are placed on the head. This is a side note, but the next time you see Ray ask him about Itsey Bitsey Spider.  His answer will bring a smile to your face.

At the last Preschool Board meeting it was decided to institute some new policies involving the safety of the Preschoolers. From now on the classroom doors will remain locked as long as children are present. Also background checks will be required for any interaction with the Preschoolers, and finally, the restrooms outside the Preschool room are to be used only by the Preschoolers while classes are in session. Your help enforcing these rules will be greatly appreciated.

The Preschool has some items that have broken and need to be replaced. If you happen to have an old DVD player and / or vacuum cleaner you are no longer using, we could really put them to good use. Any help that you could give us would be very much appreciated.

This month our concentration will be the testing of the Children to see their weak areas and to work on improving them. We will also celebrate Valentine's Day, and P1 and P2 will take a trip to the Miami County Historical Museum. The P3 class will be taking a tour of a dentist's office which will work with a unit on dental health. All three classes will begin their study of Lent.
