Children & Youth Ministries
Main Street United Methodist Church strives to engage children and youth in activities and programs that will nurture their growth spiritually, physically, mentally and socially.

At Main Street, children and youth are involved in a variety of ministries, each with the specific goal of helping children to grow in their understanding of what it means to be children of God. Main Street is where children are loved and valued.
Sunday Mornings
Pre-K – 5th Grade
Ages 4-11 | 10:15 – 11:15am
Our children’s ministry for Pre-K-4th grade meets in the children’s area on the ground floor after the 9:00 a.m. service ends. There is an adult Sunday School class available for parents to attend if they wish. Children meet at 10:15 for Music Rehearsals and are then divided into age-appropriate groups according to that week’s particular lesson.
Youth
Ages 12-18 | 10:30 – 11:15
Students in 5th grade through 12th grade will meet in the parlor for a discussion based Bible lesson. At times the class may be divided into junior high and senior high, depending on the topic being discussed.
UMYF – United Methodist Youth Fellowship
Our youth group (UMYF) is primarily for youth in 6th grade and older although we will include younger children in 3rd -5th grades periodically. We meet at least two times a month and sometimes more. (See schedule below) A schedule will be posted with grade levels. During UMYF, we do many fun and exciting things. We will have biblical discussions, play games, go on field trips, etc. We end with a snack. The youth plan their activities quarterly with the guidance of the pastor and youth director.
Upcoming Youth Events:
June 23, 5p.m. – 8p.m. – We will visit Lighthouse Ministries in Bunker Hill (grades 6-12)
June 27, 4p.m. – 6 p.m. – Nerf Gun Fun – Bring your Nerf guns and plan on having fun throughout the church building. (grades 3-12)
July 19, 5p.m. – 10 p.m. – Circus City Festival Night! Join us for some delicious fair food and then we will be off to see the circus. Meet at the church at 5:00 p.m. You will have to bring money to eat uptown and $5 for the cost of the circus ticket. Youth funds will pay for the remaining cost of the tickets. (all ages invited. Any youth under 3rd grade must be accompanied by a parent)
July 25, 11 a.m. -7 p.m. – Indiana Beach Day. We will leave the church shortly after the church service and will return to the church at approximately 7:00 p.m. More details will be posted later. (all ages invited, but any youth under 3rd grade must be accompanied by a parent)
August 14, 3p.m. – 8p.m. – Youth planned open house for the community. More details to be posted shortly. (grades 3-12)
August 29, 3p.m. – 6p.m. – Camera Scavenger Party! This is one of our favorite events. Three or four youth group up with an adult and drive around town taken pictures to earn points! (grades 6-12)
